Good Shepherd Presbyterian Church

Christ said,
"It is far better to give than to receive."

What Is A Steward?

A steward is a person who manages the affairs of a household.  A Christian steward is the manager of abilities, talents, and resources that are given by God.  Everything that we have is given to us by God.  A Christian steward serves God out of love and gratitude for these gifts knowing that it is not how much we have but what we do with what we have that is important.  It is a way of saying thank you to God.

Why Be A Steward?

✞ THE STEWARD'S LIFE IS PURPOSEFUL. The steward is conscious of the use of time. The steward is aware of the use of talents and gifts. The steward is informed about the earth and its resources.

✞ THE STEWARD'S LIFE IS SIMPLIFIED Using what you need, but forsaking the collection of what you don't and sharing it with those who do need it.

✞ THE STEWARD'S LIFE IS GENEROUS God is a generous giver; giving generously lets you imitate God If you cannot give, you are not free.

✞ THE STEWARD'S LIFE IS ACCOUNTABLE. "Everyone to whom much is given, of him will much be required." God holds us accountable. It means we are of great worth.

Stewardship Funds

At Good Shepherd Presbyterian Church, there are three basic funds:
  • GENERAL (for the daily operation of the church)
  • BUILDING (for the capital expenditures of the physical plant)
  • MEMORIAL (for capital expenditures)
You may give to any or all of these funds simply by designating your gift.  Pledges are solicited for the General and Building Funds.  Pledges are a way for the church to estimate its income so it can plan its expenses, and a way for you to structure your giving.
