Activities at the Senior Center

On Wednesday, February 17, Michele Baker, Assistant Program Coordinator with the Washington County Council on Aging, and Jeanie Johnson, Center supervisor of the St. George Senior Center provided a very informative and interesting presentation on what's new and exciting at the Senior Center. There are now 3 Senior Centers, St. George, Hurricane and Enterprise plus a meal site in Springdale. Anyone 60 or older is welcome to take part in all of the activities plus meals. The St. George Center is open from 9:00 am to 4:00 pm Tuesday through Friday with lunch served Tuesday through Thursday from 11:30 am to 12:45 pm and Brunch on Friday from 10:30 am 11:45 am. Each meal carries a suggested donation of $3.

The 3 main services provided at the Senior Center in St. George are Activities, Meals on Wheels and Dial-A-Ride. You will find a listing of all of the offered February activities listed on the Parish Nursing Ministry bulletin board in the hall between the Narthex and Conklin Hall. They are also listed on their web site which is www.coa.washco.utah.gov.

Meals on Wheels is available to those 60 and older, are unable to prepare adequate meals due to a mental or physical condition, home-bound and unable to walk. Dial-A-Ride provides transportation to Medical appointments, Pharmacies for prescription pick up, various shopping locations and lunch at the Senior Center. The fare is a suggested donation of $3 for one way and $5 round trip with a restriction of 1 trip daily. Clients may now shop on a daily basis Tuesday through Friday between 10 AM and 3PM. Call Tonya at the Center at 634-5743 Option #1 to schedule your ride at least 3 days in advance.

The St. George Senior Center has opportunities galore to improve your mind, enliven your body and lift your spirits in a safe place to try new things, to reach for help and keep involved and busy.

The Senior Center will hold a Wellness Fair on April 8, 2016, beginning at 9:00 am. Admission is free and vendors will be there giving away goodies, entertainment and medical checks like blood pressure and blood sugar levels. Come and enjoy the fun!
