The season of Lent and our celebration of Easter are always busy times at Good Shepherd and 2023 will be no exception.
Rev. Ralph's Lenten Bible study and potluck will kick off on February 20th at 5:00 pm in the CE Building. The weekly study, focusing on the Psalms, will continue until April 3rd.
We will celebrate the Good Shepherd version of Mardi Gras on Shrove Tuesday, February 21st, with our annual Shrove Tuesday pancake dinner at 6:30 pm in Conklin Hall. Dinner will be followed by a short "Retiring the Alleluia" service in Conklin Hall. Rev. Ralph needs volunteers to help cook for this event and onsite training will be available! A sign-up sheet is available on the sign-up table in Conklin Hall.
Our observation of Lent formally begins on February 22nd, but the schedule will be a bit different this year. At Noon we will hold a joint soup and sandwich lunch in Conklin Hall with our brothers and sisters from Shepherd of the Hills United Methodist Church. Lunch will be followed by our annual Ash Wednesday Service in the Sanctuary. For those who can't attend during the day, Rev. Ralph will be in the Sanctuary again from 6:30 pm to 7:15pm on Ash Wednesday for the Imposition of the Ashes.
On April 2nd, Palm Sunday, Rev. Ralph and his team of men will serve us a hearty breakfast beginning at 8:30 am in Conklin Hall. This event is always well attended and we appreciate the efforts of all who provide food for us. Our service on Palm Sunday will be filled with music by our choirs.
On Maundy Thursday, April 6th, we will hold an Agape Dinner beginning at 6:00 pm in Conklin Hall. This dinner is notable because the room is lit oil lamps.
The following day, Good Friday, will be kicked off at 10:30 am by the annual Procession of the Cross and closed with an Ecumenical Service at 7:00 pm at New Promise Lutheran Church.
We will not have an early service or adult education on Easter Sunday, April 9, so we can all prepare ourselves to celebrate our Risen Lord. After the service, we hope you will join us for Easter Brunch in Conklin Hall.
We hope to see you at as many events as you can attend.
